Tooling Repair Technician MI Open (J#26849)

This position requires the skill to repair molds, jigs, fixtures and other tooling equipment involved in the molding and assembly of plastic products. The position requires the skill level to to modify and repair existing injection molds, and the ability to inspect and verify changes made by outside molding vendors to assure accuracy. Responsibilities include assessing and diagnosing problems and implementing corrective modifications to injection molds, jigs and fixtures. This requires maintaining adequate repair supplies, tracking and recording repairs, modifications and inventory.

Journeyman level skills or several years in a Toolmaker apprenticeship are necessary qualification for this position. SPI does not build tools, but a high skill set is necessary to make modifications and adjustments to new, existing and take-over production tools. Candidates must be willing to test to assess their skill level and may be required to take classes.

Minimum of 2 years in mold or tool repair, including experience with jigs and fixtures.
Possess the ability to train others for routine positions and gather information.
Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform repeated bending and lifting during work shift.
Possess appropriate hand eye coordination for use of hand tools and cranes
Must be able to wear steel toe footwear as required.
