Tooling Engineer OK Open (J#27239)
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 4 - 9 years

The main focus of this role will be to design molds/other tooling required for the production of plastic injection and thermoforming products, and to ensure quality, cost and performance objectives are met.

Preparation of new mold specifications & Requests for Quotation (RFQ)
Collaborate with suppliers globally to manage mold design and build, tool and process development and tool qualifications at the supplier
Communicates with Marketing, R&D, New Product Development, and Operations team members to resolve process, mold and equipment details that differ from concepts or new product specifications
Coordinates and presents manufacturing plans at design review meetings
Perform design review of products for manufacturability / mold making
Determine process feasibility and development options, design reviews and evaluation of 3D models and 2D drawings for new and existing products
Review product design and process specifications and development plans with appropriate mold makers, contract manufacturers, prototyping services, equipment or other service suppliers
Determine required tooling and capacity for new programs
Evaluation of mold maker capability, capacity, and mold cost for tool sourcing
Development of project schedule and tracking of progress
Technical troubleshooting of injection mold & production equipment related issues
Work with a team of engineers to develop the conceptual, preliminary, and detail design
Draw preliminary sketches of molds for review
Perform engineering studies and analyses on existing plastic processes and designs to improve process reliability, product quality and cost
Research new and innovative technologies to analyze the potential for cost competitive applications
Identify candidate technologies and develop proposals for presentations to key decision makers
Work on special assignments and other projects as assigned by Manager that are deemed critically important for the business unit
Additional duties will include providing technical support to injection technicians, troubleshooting production problems, and quoting necessary tooling/specifying required equipment.

Position Requirements Include:

Bachelors degree in engineering discipline or equivalent and at least 5 years of work experience in plastic tooling design and material selection required
Very strong plastic tooling background with emphasis on mold design hot runner technology plastic materials molding processes mold repairs and new mold construction is a requirement
Strong proficiency in engineering project and resource management, timelines and capital budgets
Understanding of mechanical drawing, solid model and mold flow comprehension
Proficiency in 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred, and Microsoft Office experience
Knowledge and experience with GD&T
Good communication skills and the ability to professionally interface with internal/external personnel as needed.
Ability to work in a team environment & lead cross functional groups
Ability to coordinate and work on numerous projects simultaneously
