Tooling Engineer CA Open (J#27682)
Education: Associates Degree
Experience: 1 - 3 years

Tool Maker / CNC Machinist, to support manufacturing through an effective predictive, preventive and breakdown maintenance program on progressive tooling.

Key Responsibilities:
Involvement in repair and maintenance (including tear down and assembly) of production tooling to support production quality and productivity.
Participate in day-to-day shop activities such as grinding, milling, CNC machining.
Timely and complete documentation of components, activities and paperwork revision levels.
Ensures the tool is ready to run on time.
Keeps an accurate log as to the work performed.
Can update documentation to better define to PM processes.
Works closely with quality and production for information on tooling.
Troubleshoot tooling problems and determines solution.
Documents lessons learned when troubleshooting.
Works overtime as needed to support manufacturing.
Ensures all rev levels on paperwork and components are up to date.
Works on tool to minimize part variation that is tooling related.
Ensures KanBan levels are maintained at all times.
Recognize and replace tooling components as it wears.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize on tooling and production needs.
Edit speeds and feeds.
Basic code editing.
Prepare machine for next part.
Part inspection before coming off the machine.
Clean and deburring of part.
Running of multiple machines when necessary.
Keep machine clean and well maintained.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Cross train on other machines.
Must wear proper PPE at all times.
Complete breakdown maintenance utilizing scientific approach.

Qualifications/ Requirements and Technical Skill Requirements:
Essential skills that define the position, specific practical, industry, professional skills -- applied discipline or knowledge
Ability to work with tooling equipment including (but not limited to) grinder, mill, CNC machine.
Ability to use metrology equipment and perform accurate measurement.
Ability to understand and interpret set-up documents (how to set up part; tools needed)
Ability to understand and interpret blue-prints (shows holes, depth, diameter)
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Shop math skills and knowledge of GD&T are required.

Critical thinking (numbers based approach).
Detail oriented and enthusiastic about learning in a fast-paced environment.
Documentation, technical writing ability.

Excellent communication skills / verbal and listening.

Minimum Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:
Technical College / Machine trades.
At least 1 year of Machining experience is a must.
Experience in tool making is a plus.

Performance Measures (Accountability):
Key performance measures that remains relatively constant over time. Annual performance measures, priorities/weightings, and specific targets will be agreed to and documented separately each performance period.

PM/repair/modification job quality (Does the tool run the first time without any issues)
