Very successful and fast growing company in Wisconsin is searching for a Sr. Polymer Chemist. The Sr. Chemist Wire and Cable Products is responsible for the R&D leadership and technical service support for low voltage insulation product range. This position is also responsible for leading the companys technical activity to support its UL and CSA rated wire and cable insulation product range.

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time:

Develops new insulation products from concept, product development, scale up, approval and commercialization
Leads cross-functional project teams to execute the product developments
Investigates and applies new polymer and additive technologies and keeps updated on new technology advances arising from supply market
Defines the work required of the supporting chemists and technicians to execute the product developments
Supports the technical service needs of commercial team involved in the selling of the companys LV insulation product range
Leads the relationship with UL and CSA for product approvals
Leads the investigation of customer complaints related to product failures
Prepares monthly update reports and technical reports related to product developments
Prepares and presents high level project updates to the companys management team during formal review sessions
Prepares and presents technical papers at conferences and trade shows relevant to the product line


Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a Masters degree in Chemical or Polymer Engineering or related discipline
Five years experience involving the development of polymer compounds for the wire and cable industry
Hands-on experience with polymer compound development, the polymer compounding and extrusion
Demonstrated leadership skills
Flexibility to work as an individual contributor, leading a team or as a member of a team
Strong technical skills in the field of wire and cable
Displays a natural tendency for attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple work assignments and changing priorities
Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
Motivated, self-starter
Excellent understanding of polymer sciences as it relates to structure property relationships of polymer blends and filler polymer blends
Proven track record of delivering projects on time and effectively reporting results
