Quality Engineer AL Open (J#26520)
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 4 - 9 years

Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform specialized, complex and involved assignments of an engineering nature requiring development and administration of quality related procedures, techniques, and methodology.

Conduct investigative work to solve quality deviation problems when so assigned.

Direct the APQP process with the Program Manager and provide direction for process qualification and new product introduction to assure control of quality at the most economical costs.

Coordinate PPAP packages along with the Program Manager and other support personnel.

Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Inspection personnel on procedural problems involving design, methods, tooling, costs and other areas involved in the control of product quality.

Devise methods and design equipment used in laboratory to test both company and competitive products.

Oversee critical testing and inspection procedures, analyze and document results.

Assist with or individually resolve engineering problems to offset defective workmanship, material variations or other causes which contribute to deviations from quality standards.

Assist Supervisors to install, train and otherwise administer new methods of inspection and process control procedures.

When assigned, investigate customers' complaints as to product quality, and if required, work closely with customers' representatives to resolve problems. 8D, TOPS, 5P, 5 Why Process steps..

Document and maintain records, drawings and other data having to do with the engineering functions involved.

Keep abreast of new engineering techniques, procedures, instruments and equipment through seminars, educational institutions, professional organizations, text books, technical papers and periodicals.

Ability to travel on short notice to support customer.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May directly or indirectly supervises employees in the Quality Department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Will support the Quality Manager in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read blue prints/drawings, complete APQP documents including but not limited to; Control Plans, PFMEAs, QAPs, Standard Job Element Sheets.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering or closely related field from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and/or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, etc. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, knowledge of GD & T methods, etc.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
