Project Engineer NY 40 - 70k (J#25000)

Experience: 4 - 9 years

JOB SUMMARY:

To manage new product launches successfully, identify and improve process performance on assigned programs and provide technical assistance in support of manufacturing. Project engineers will support three major responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

40%Identification and implementation of areas of measureable improvement in process performance (Continuous Process Improvement) and manufacturability on assigned programs. Duties will include, but not limited to the following:
Has full responsibility for assigned programs for the life of the program. Through the development and improvement of product, tooling and processes, reduce variability and increase robustness on assigned parts/projects.
Develop specific process metrics by owned part, establish and manage an improvement process with published measurables.

40%Manages new product launches ensuring that new products, tooling and processes can be designed, built, managed and implemented successfully in manufacturing according to customer and CPI requirements, on schedule. Duties will include, but not limited to the following:
Working with Purchasing, develop and maintain a qualified supply base for tooling and all required peripheral equipment.
Support Business Development Manager, Designer and VP NPD in working with potential or existing customer in establishing robust processes and specification that provides value to the customer and CPI.
Working with Engineering Manager and Business Development Manager develop and provide tooling and processes required for assigned RFQs.
Manage all activities for the development of new programs assigned.
1.APQP- Contract Review
2.Vendor selection, order placement and verification through program
3.Coordinate with customer, scheduling, materials, manufacturing and Quality Engineer to ensure successful sampling and qualification of new molds.
4.Act as the prime communicator with the Customer, Tooling/Equipment Supplier and Internal Support Groups throughout the new program development and qualification.
5.Maintain and publish Project CG Timelines throughout the program.
6.Coordinate formal Project Close Out
20%Manage engineering support to manufacturing through establishment of robust approved processes, procedures and engineering solutions. Duties include but not limited to:
Supports manufacturing in identifying constraints and working with cross functional teams to implement root cause failure analysis and corrective actions.
Support manufacturing by providing training and coaching to technicians on all shifts.
Support manufacturing daily on critical priorities where needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Contribute to the overall success of the company by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
Promote the Quality Improvement Process.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

High School diploma or equivalent, 10 years experience in plastics or related technical field, working knowledge of SPC; and computer skills (proficiency in word, excel, and Microsoft Outlook is required. .

Two year technical degree in plastics or related technical field and training in Injection Molding, Blow Molding, and Assembly operations is preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered.
