Project Engineer IL 65 - 80k (J#26856)

Position: Project Engineer
Term: Permanent opportunity
Location: Chicago, IL (northwest side of Chicago)
Rate/Compensation: Depending on experience, $65,000 to $85,000/annum (Bonus opportunity)

Essential Duties and responsibilities:
The project engineers responsibility to is manage internal and customer product development projects. In addition, they are to be responsible for innovation, product design, prototyping, production readiness and testing of new and existing products. This individual will be considered in house technical support for sales, manufacturing and quality assurance.

Primary Responsibilities:
Project Management
Manage entire projects from concept design through production start-up
Maintain a close working relationship and assure technical support to sales
Maintain a continual customer communication and good relationship with the customer
Maintain project within budget guidelines
Chair meetings and communicate all pertinent information to sales, customer service, manufacturing, and customer as required
Observe and coordinate customer product line trials
Insure accurate and timely monthly project status reports
Attend technical and professional seminars and trade shows to continue education
Product Design and Testing
Design and develop new innovative products utilizing the CAD environment (Solidworks or Pro-E/Creo)
Design and develop plastic parts for the customer products industry
Engineering and part design for injection molding
Responsible for article, customer, QA and all applicable design drawings
Make all necessary improvements to existing designs
Responsible for prototype creation and development
Determine essential performance characteristics and acceptable limits
Involvement in the selection, evaluation and approval of new materials (resins, colorants, lining materials, etc.)
Product Readiness
Assure that production tooling meets agreed upon time lines
Participate in reviewing mold and machinery designs with tool engineer, outside vendors and manufacturing
Assure project is within agreed upon budget
Assure new tooling meets QA Cpk requirements
Gauging and Quality Assurance
Design, manufacture, test and implement gauges to check the closure product
Assist quality assurance in the review and evaluation of molded pats to qualify mold for approval
Lead and conduct mold qualification on new mold qualification

Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role is required
Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or engineering
