Quality Engineer WA 50 - 60k (J#21208)

JOB TITLE: QUALITY ENGINEER / MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: QUALITY CONTROL
REPORTING TO: VP OF OPERATIONS
FSLA STATUS: EXEMPT

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Ensure Cashmere complies with customer-specific quality requirements and delivers customer satisfaction through continuous improvement of plastic injection molding products and processes
Responsible for Cashmeres compliance to its ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS); serve as the Management Representative for QMS
Oversee all Quality Control functions, including receiving, in-process, final, shipping and first article inspections
Provide hands-on measurement, statistical analysis and sampling expertise to Cashmere, and provide corresponding training to Quality Inspectors
Responsible for all aspects of managing the departments employees (e.g., interview, hire, train, direct, mentor, discipline, review, terminate)
Interact with customers on quality performance and management
Contribute working knowledge of one or more other standards (e.g., ISO9001:2008, AS9100, AS9102, ISO 13485:2003, FDA-QSR Regulations, UL, CSA)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are considered essential functions, and marginal functions that are incidental to performance of the job have been excluded. Observe all safety rules
Ensure Cashmere quality objectives and customer requirements are met
Define, develop and implement Quality Control processes compliant to Cashmere QMS
Maintain the Quality Management System processes and modify as needed
Responsible for all aspects of managing Quality Control employees (e.g., interview, hire, train, direct, mentor, discipline, review, terminate)
Provide hands-on measurement, statistical analysis and sampling expertise
Provide hands-on measurement, statistical analysis and sampling training to Quality Inspectors
Develop and maintain systems to measure performance against established quality/industry standards
Work with Department Managers and area Supervisors to correct product noncompliance and/or recommend process changes to meet customer requirements based on the NCR process, and manage MRB activity and reporting of cost of quality
Assist in conducting internal audits
Interface with customers and coordinate internal efforts to correct processes when customer requirements are not met. Notify customer of any noncompliance and communicate corrective action. Ensure timely resolution of quality problems and implement long-term solutions to prevent reoccurrence of problems
Interact with customers on quality performance and companys objectives
Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures
Manage and/or conduct Receiving, In-Process and Final Inspection. Ensure Quality Inspectors are routinely and properly performing these inspections according to documented procedures. Ensure all data as a result of such inspections is collected, reported and effectively utilized to drive for continual improvement
Manage and/or conduct First Article Inspections (FAI)
Support ongoing improvement activities using the toolsets of Lean and other improvement methodologies
Ensure NCRs are submitted to MRB in a timely manner according to documented requirements
Participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to determine product quality inspection requirements, methodology and implementation
Work with Engineering to ensure timely reporting & distribution of SPC information and generate corrective action (CAPAs) where appropriate
Direct employees engaged in Inspection activities to ensure continuous control and improvement of materials and products meet customer requirements. Provide on-the-job training as needed
Other duties may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: The following requirements are considered the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, or abilities necessary to perform this job successfully.

Successful hands-on quality engineering and management/supervisory experience in a contract manufacturing organization. Plastics/plastic injection molding experience not absolutely required but very desired
Self-starter
Ability to motivate employees toward very high goals in a growing, dynamic environment
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience managing an ISO9001:2008 or similar QMS
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience managing other quality assurance programs and industry required standards
Knowledge of and experience with commercial standards such as ANSI/ASQ Z1.4-2003/Sampling Plans, AQ-101, 102 and 103 (plastic injection molding handbook and cosmetic criteria), and legacy MIL standards
Ability to mentor employees in specific technical and/or operations areas
Experience interpreting engineering drawings and configuration management and using inspection tools related to plastic injection molded products/material
Experience with software quality assurance functions used in manufacturing process equipment or inspection tools, CMM and other inspection measuring equipment
Hands-on experience conducting internal quality audits of the QMS
Able to use statistical (SPC) techniques, and to generate and interpret bar graphs/charts
Able to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, work instructions and quality manuals
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers
Extensive working knowledge of Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point
Knowledge of CAD, Access data base related to development of inspection plans/instructions

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The following requirements are considered the minimum levels of education and experience necessary to perform this job successfully.

Bachelors degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university required plus minimum of 5 years related quality engineering experience in a contract manufacturing environment
Plastics/plastic injection molding experience strongly preferred
CMM Certification preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Proof of US citizenship or proof of US permanent residency is required
