Position Summary- Production Process Technician - Injection Molding - Maintenance Tech

This is a high-speed Focus Factory and a controlled manufacturing environment (CME). Must be open to working any shift, including a 12-hour night shift (alternating three or four days per week) and must be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business.

Our Crystal Lake plant has 2 focus factories under one 500,000 square foot roof: Containers and Syringes.The Production Process Tech - Molding will be responsible for the safe, proper and timely completion of maintenance activities in the Containers Focus Factory. These are sharps containers ranging in size from one quart to 30 gallons, used by hospitals to hold used needles and syringes.

Ensure that the product meets quality specifications and is done in a safe and efficient manner. Perform duties required to assist with mold set up and troubleshooting plastic Injection Molding Machines (IMM). Perform preventive maintenance on equipment including auxiliary equipment as required. This includes the installation of machinery and troubleshooting of scientific injection molding processing operations and automation equipment in the manufacture of components into FDA regulated syringes. Principal Accountabilities
1.Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe working conditions.
2.Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
3.Check and maintain quality of the product being produced by identifying acceptable and non-acceptable product in accordance with the Quality policy.
4.Work independently from verbal and/or written instructions from Supervisor and Lead.
5.Support a team based environment by actively participating on teams and offering suggestions for improvement.
6.Ability to communicate in verbal or written form.
7.Ability to lift up to 50lbs with repetitive movements.
8.Answer machine alarms as they occur and address the root cause.
9.Ability to follow 7S guidelines
10.Perform and document inspections per GMP for work instruction sheet, on device history sheet records, and work instruction sheet tables.
11.Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules.
12.Diagnose and troubleshoot any pneumatic or mechanical malfunction on a variety of machines
13.Adjusts assembly machine units for major/minor lot production operations following department specification
14.Repair and maintain Electrical controls on the Equipment (molding, assembly and packaging machines), -- Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and devices primarily on the basis of electronic principles
15.Upload programs to controls in the events of program loss or CPU replacement.
16.Repair robot arms and controls replace bad board, motor, encoder etc. calibrate and adjust robots pick and place locations if needed.
17.Communicate with off-going/on-coming technicians.
18.Conduct TPM activities as required.
19.Input Maintenance work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (Maximo)
20.The ability to monitor the process and show an awareness of issues and demonstrate corrective actions to address those issues.
21.Perform PM maintenance weekly and monthly and as required.
22.Perform root cause analysis for safety, quality, and processing issues.
23.Understands Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Requirements
Education required/preferred:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in a technical, hands-on position, including Injection Molding Machines.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of plastic processing and trouble shooting of thermoplastics within high cavitation molds.
Basic math skills.
Basic computer skills.
Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to use basic hand tools.
Possess good hand-eye coordination with manual dexterity.
Repair and perform all necessary preventive maintenance on equipment.
RJG methodology
Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Forklift license.

Other Skills:
Ability to lift items ranging from 1-50 pounds from floor to overhead, independently, frequently to constantly.
Ability to stand/walk for up to 12 hours a shift.
Ability to climb up and down ladders.
Ability to push and pull items.

Organizational Relationships/Scope:

Frequent contact with: Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Supervisors, Manufacturing Leads, Manufacturing Technicians, Material Handlers, Grinders, Focus Factory Personnel and QA Personnel.

Working Conditions

1.The working conditions for this position are typical of an injection molding manufacturing environment.
2.This position will also be required to attend to issues on the manufacturing floor. When entering the manufacturing facility safety glasses and hearing protection are required.
