Process Engineer CA Open (J#27480)
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 1 - 3 years

Position Purpose:
Under minimal supervision, responsible for molding processes, procedures, process design, optimization, and improving product quality. Manage projects across multiple departments that are aligned with department strategic objectives. Evaluate present systems, and research new systems for continuous product/process improvement.

Apply Lean Six Sigma tools in continuous process improvement. Work with production, maintenance, quality, product engineering, and vendors to improve the efficiency of people and equipment used in the production process.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:
Develops robust process for new mold qualifications. Troubleshoot production injection molding process issues. Deliver manufacturing input on part and mold design reviews. Produce parts for sample requests by coordinating resources. Assist with conception, development, and implementing manufacturing processes.

Evaluates, assesses the adequacy of the existing processes, methods, equipment, and make necessary changes where required in the department to increase efficiency and productivity. Responsible for the resolution and troubleshooting of processes, molding issues, that effect product quality, reliability, or availability. Applies the principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design. Supports corporate production in all sites, as needed.

Applies Continuous Process Improvement methods, design of experiments, robust engineering, cost reduction, and Six Sigma practices to molding manufacturing operation. Report project metrics and outline current activities on a monthly basis. Identify and implements cost reduction, production efficiency, and quality improvement projects. Optimize all molding processes in achieving consistency, repeatability, and consistency. Actions are supported by written reports.

Learns and understand functionality of the product lines and provide new techniques in optimizing or enhancement of product lines. Performs detailed root cause analysis of issues by exploring potential discrepancies in manufacturing, molding, quality, reliability, and initiate both short term and long term corrective actions. Actions are supported by written reports.

Leads and support cost reduction projects including qualification of new vendors for materials or parts. Participate in test plan development and execution. Provides focus on delivering a repeatable process with high quality yield. Support the concurrent engineering effort on behalf of manufacturing as a member of the product optimization group.

Other critical projects/ assignments, as required. In the case of Management provide direction and leadership to direct reports as required to effectively develop key skills necessary to accomplish department strategic objectives. Work closely with other specialists, including engineers, managers, supervisors, technicians, etc.

Makes recommendation on system and process improvements required meeting the company's manufacturing goals.

Education/Training Required:
B.S. in Plastics, Chemical, Manufacturing/Process, or Industrial Engineering

Experience Required:
Minimum of three years progressive experience in an engineering position of a manufacturing/ molding organization.

KSA #10: Mathematics - Knowledge of and ability to use arithmetic.

KSA #11: Excellent problem solving skills and detail oriented. Must be able to accurately perform intermediate mathematical and statistical calculations and use a weight counting scale.

KSA#12: Requires strong interpersonal skills

Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.

Regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 52 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors and fumes or airborne particles.

Frequently exposed to vibration.

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of static electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require PPE.
