Project Engineer: Injection Molded Plastics

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for on time on budget completion of engineering projects specifically related to Tri-Macks injection molded high performance thermoplastics. The Project Engineer will provide support to the Engineering Department in the New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, as well as provide support to Production in the administration and implementation of process improvements using Mack Plastics C/PAR procedure.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Responsible for managing several new and existing injection molding engineering projects simultaneously from start to finish.
Design new injection molding tools as well as debug existing tools.
Perform flow analysis for new and existing injection molding tools.
Identify and initiate projects to improve productivity and reduce rejection rates through the implementation of process control, automation, or tool modifications.
Supports Production in identifying root cause, and corrective action implementation of ongoing injection molding issues.
Ultizes Design of Experiments (DOE), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Process Mapping and Statistics to support existing processes and NPI.
Participate as a team member with Marketing, Quality Control, Production, Customers and Vendors to accomplish on time and on budget projects to completion.
Create new SPC files and perform process capability studies, periodic SPC data input and G,R&R studies.
Work closely with Quality Control to ensure all parts meet specified drawing requirements.
Prepare Engineering masters, including any IPQC detail as needed for any new parts under the NPI umbrella as well as update masters when process improvements are involved.

Education, Skills & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Plastics Engineering.
2-4 years of injection molded plastics manufacturing experience.
Strong knowledge of the various processing conditions in molding such as flow, temp, speeds, pressures, viscosity, density, etc.
Solid knowledge of tool design and production techniques.
Experience with Moldflow software or similar injection molding simulation software.
Experience with programming 6-axis robotics and related automation
Strong technical aptitude, experience with Solid Works and/or Cimatron preferred.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Adaptability to adjust to rapidly changing work environments and operational situations.
Adhere to all AS9100 requirements.
