Plant Manager CA Open (J#27405)

PLASTIKON Industries is headquartered in Hayward, California with locations in Kentucky and Kansas. We are a plastic injection molding supplier with extensive capability to customize any engineering, tooling, molding and manufacturing needs. Our growth as a supplier and partner in multiple industries -- medical, automotive, electronics -- has allowed us to concentrate and build on our core competencies...customer service, engineering and design, tooling design, build and maintenance, program management, and contract manufacturing.
We are seeking a Plant Manager at our Hayward operation. The successful candidate will provide leadership and vision with a strong blend of strategic and tactical approaches to operational and business objectives, motivational skills and the ability to maintain a positive team work environment. Solid knowledge in injection molding (preferably in the automotive industry), safety, and quality standards are required.
The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for planning; organizing; scheduling; inventory and warehouse management; production planning systems; complete safety of operation; leadership of production; maintenance; quality; establishment of work procedures; supporting the budgetary process; staffing and training.

-Ensures that safety is #1 at all times through housekeeping and utilization of all resources available.
-Optimizes machine utilization by ensuring equipment is used to maximum capability through uptime, run rates, scheduling, and repairs
-Optimize Labor Utilization by ensuring labor is used to maximum capability through training and assignments.
-Performs capacity analysis of resources including equipment, suppliers and labor; level loading production on the shop floor
-Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce labor without compromise to other areas of responsibilities in both direct and indirect capacities.
-Closely monitors and controls overall spending such that monthly total and product specific targets are met or exceeded
-Works diligently with Quality and Engineering departments to develop mechanisms that will improve quality, provide realistic schedules, standardize processes and reduce costs
-Identifies and implements opportunities to mistake proof process
-Ensures comprehensive Inventory Control methods are used by reducing handling, while insuring maximum accuracy and constant supply
-Provides customer service oriented response to sample requests with specified time frames
-Utilizes MRP system to plan raw material requirements and schedule manufacturing production
-Supervises staff by utilizing sound performance improvement and motivational techniques
-Drives innovation by utilizing engineering staff and keeps communication lines open at all times
-Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure functional objectives are met
-Partners with Human Resources on employee relations issues and keeps VP of Operations in the loop on any issues of consequence
-Communicates regularly with employees on strategy, direction and results
-Administrative duties, such as participating in budget preparation, providing management reports, participating in analysis of new equipment

Skills & Qualifications
-Minimum of 10 years of experience in the plastic injection molding industry
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Production -related field, or equivalent technical discipline. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for a candidate who can demonstrate the combination of experience, training and education to be capable of successfully fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of the position
-8+ years of progressive management experience encompassing all facets of operations management
-Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methods such as Six Sigma - TPS (Toyota Production Systems)---a plus Knowledge of cost accounting fundamentals and labor reporting
-Ability to challenge the status quo open minded to new ideas
-Ability to define objectives and integrate them into the organization
-Ability to effectively communicate vision and goals to the organization
-Ability to perform both long and short term planning
-Ability to promote and foster a diverse working environment
-Very Strong leadership and soft skills. (no-nonsense)
-Strong hands on type good with metrics, systems & equipment knowledge. Working knowledge of Microsoft office or equivalent
-Bilingual-Spanish a plus
-Open to relocation
