Packaging Supervisor (Graveyard Shift)

Rainin Instrument, a subsidiary of METTLER TOLEDO, is looking for an experienced Packaging Supervisor to oversee the Packaging Department. The position is based out of Rainin's global headquarters in Oakland, CA.

Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates a staff of approximately sixty full time employees, engaged in various support operations for the molding and rack assembly areas. With focus in Tip Packaging, that includes the primary functions such as tip inspection, product assembly, final inspection and final packaging of all of the Companys tip products.

Continually promotes the companys philosophy of providing excellent service to the customer while maintaining a high level of employee efficiency through the introduction and support of effective work standards. Encourages the positive development of employee/department attitude and morale by personal example and by assisting with the achievement of job-related goals and objectives.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

A. Packaging

1. Develops and implements packaging activities in support of the Packaging departments overall goals, objectives and schedules.

2. Inspects products prior to packaging and returns rejected products to production departments.

3. Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements.

4. Starts, adjusts and repairs packaging machinery.

5. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

7. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

8. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.

9. Serves as a technical and training resource for the Packaging team.

10. Troubleshoots and resolves operating/process issues.

11. Establishes and maintains standards for safety, productivity and area cleanliness.

B. Supervisory

1. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

2. Maintains time and production records.

3. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

4. Compiles and reviews packaging reports for accuracy as well as shift reports and updates .

5. Assigns resources to meet the Packaging schedule on a day-to-day basis.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
Associate's degree (A.A.) and three to five years of related Supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the Company. Bi-lingual skills are preferred but not required.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, Inventory software; Spreadsheet software, Power Point and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Fork Lift Certification required.

Periodically may be required to work a different shift than regularly scheduled.
