Very successful company in Northeast Ohio is searching for an Operations Manager. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with Engineering, Customer Service and other functional departments, the Operations Manager will direct all operations activities in support, objectives for safety, quality, productivity and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of all employees in assigned departments through proper training, strict adherence to safety rules and disciplined maintenance of clean and orderly work areas.

Participate as an active member of the Safety Committee and directly support all on-going safety initiatives including regular safety audits of production areas and resources.

Ensure strict adherence to all elements of ISO 9000 Quality System. Oversee root cause analysis process and the implementation of permanent corrective actions for all Corrective Action Requests issued to assigned departments.

Establish objectives and drive the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the operations including value stream mapping, cellular manufacturing, one-piece flow, set-up reduction, standard work and waste elimination activities.

Establish a disciplined approach to housekeeping and workplace organization across all work areas through the use of 5S methodology, including regular audits of each work area to ensure standards for cleanliness are routinely met.

Identify resource requirements and ensure availability of labor, materials and machine capacity in order to ensure on-time completion of orders.

Work closely with Master Scheduler and Production Managers in the development of production schedules that support customer needs.

Review labor utilization and make responsible decisions about hourly headcount, labor assignments and the use of overtime to meet schedules.

Review material requirements with Purchasing Manager to ensure availability of raw materials.

Review machine utilization and identify equipment constraints that dictate alternative planning to accomplish production requirements.

Attend daily/weekly production meetings with Customer to provide updates and ensure service levels.

Participate in the recruitment and development of labor resources including hiring, training, performance appraisal and administration of discipline based on established company policies and practices.


Ten or more years of Manufacturing Supervisory or Managerial experience Preferably in plastics industry.
Comprehensive understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques and practices such as 5S cleanliness and organization, one-piece flow, standard work, value stream mapping, overall equipment effectiveness and total productive maintenance. Must have the ability to develop and execute improvement plans using Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Clear understanding of ISO 9000 Quality System elements and a demonstrated ability to work within a structured quality system.
Willing to think independently and apply an entrepreneurial approach in managing resources and leading people.
Able to gather, analyze and report data using basic PC tools.
