Canon Virginia, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Technologist.

Ability to establish injection molding processes for new tools and perform T-0 & T-1 injection molding trials. Utilizes extensive technical expertise to maintain and improve product and/or process. Analyzes, investigates and documents product and/or process issues. Utilizes data to monitor production defect trends, develop and implement corrective actions approved by management to reduce and/or eliminate product defects of manufacturing origin.

Troubleshoots production equipment to determine where parts problems originate.
Performs modifications and improvements to correct and/or increase machine efficiency.
Consults with management and/or suppliers regarding major equipment modifications and/or improvements.
Monitors any implemented improvements to ensure quality standards are achieved.
Monitor and analyze injection machine data to determine injection molding process related problems.
Develops and initiates methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation.
Investigates defective parts using various measuring instruments (e.g., height gauge, pin gauge, micrometer).
Investigates production injection molding process problems to determine origination and to isolate problem. Recommends course of action, countermeasures and improvements.
Utilizes blue prints and supporting documentation when evaluating process.
Performs and/or coordinates injection molding trial to confirm quality of parts, materials, product and/or process improvements.
Prepares materials required for T-0 and T-1 injection molding trials.
Writes and issues injection molding trial reports.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates degree in Engineering Technology or related technical field and 7-10 years mechanical repair and/or electrical troubleshooting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Injection molding experience required. Paulson and/or RJG training a plus.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical knowledge to various levels of employees throughout the organization.
