Our facility in Deland, Florida is a high-speed, high-volume manufacturer of needles and syringes for dental, veterinary, safety, and traditional hypodermic needle customers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The primary purpose of the Molding Maintenance Tech position is to serve as a working technical leader, keep up-to-date records and maintain databases, coordinate preventive maintenance work orders and general repair and upkeep of buildings and equipment in the plant. This position will assist in training and development of the Maintenance Technician I workforce within the department/area assigned. Responsible for assigned work orders, unscheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate and perform unscheduled maintenance, repairs and modifications on assigned equipment as needed and document changes as required by operating procedures. Assist in the maintenance of manufacturing equipment and provide instruction to Maintenance Technician I personnel during maintenance or repair. Provide technical assistance as requested and arrange for technical support if necessary to complete repairs.
Ensure proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications at the completion of assigned tasks.
Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.
Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment.
Complete all paperwork pertaining to the finished product and maximo system being produced according to established guidelines in manufacturing procedures.
Report any unusual or unacceptable circumstances to supervisor.
Responsible to observe departments regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas.
Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Experience maintaining and repairing Injection molding presses (hydraulic and electric) and the auxiliary equipment used in the molding operation.
Ability to work on hydraulics systems, electrical and electronic equipment.
Technically support operations of production machines and ancillary equipment for equipment installations, start up and trouble shooting of molding machinery, resin and conveyance systems and ancillary equipment.
Perform unscheduled maintenance, repairs and modifications on assigned equipment as needed and document changes as required by plant procedure.
Dismantle, disassemble, repair, rebuild, clean, replace, or re-assemble worn or defective parts and components as necessary. Diagnose and troubleshoot pneumatic, mechanical and electrical malfunctions. Make necessary adjustments or corrections.
Work with manufacturing engineering department for equipment modifications.
Use a variety of power tools and equipment and is responsible to maintain them in good working order. Example, drills, grinders, saws, drill press, hydraulic press. Comply with all facility safety procedures, i.e. lockout/tag out procedures

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience

Experience:

4-5 years medical device manufacturing related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Must have the ability to provide technical leadership to personnel in the assigned area. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization. Ability to present information and respond to questions. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to calculate rate and percent and interpret basic graphs. Basic Metrology knowledge.

Must be proficient in the use of small hand tools and electrical hand tools. Must be proficient with necessary measuring equipment (Dial calipers, micrometers, gages, et.) Must be able to read blueprints and schematics. Must have the ability to accept and work with constant change. Must be a team player. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to make rational decisions in the absence of supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The setting requires proper PPE. This setting is noisy and requires hearing protection. Smocks, hairnets, and if necessary, beard covers must be worn in some manufacturing areas. The jewelry allowance is specified in the departments JSA. Earrings must be completely covered by the hairnet. The employee is regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles (below permissible OSHA exposure levels) and vibration.
