Vaupell Northwest is a well established and fast growing manufacturer of injection-molded components for aerospace interiors.

Position purpose/core responsibilities
The Tooling Supervisor provides direction to the Tooling support personnel, with specific focus on preventative and timely corrective maintenance of injection molds. Provide strong leadership in the area of personnel safety for all departments by setting the standards high to ensure that maintenance efforts do not put employees at risk

Main Duties
Responsibilities for supervising direct reports include: hiring, and training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems with management approval.
Develop and maintain Preventative Maintenance program.
Participate in tool maintenance/tool repair activities.
Establish a skilled and competent work force with an emphasis on team building and group problem solving.
Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping which result in an atmosphere which is safe and clean for all employees.
Establish operating indicators (metrics) which measure departmental performance on a regular basis and communicate this information to upper management, critical customers and employees.
Implement ongoing productivity improvement programs.
Coordinates improvements and works with Process Engineering and the molding room to ensure optimum level of manufacturing.
Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
Directs tooling repairs
Documents and maintains records of maintenance, repair and changes of all tooling.
Responsible for up-grading the effectiveness of maintenance personnel. Schedules and conducts meetings with instructions relating to maintenance skills, safety, and Company Policy. Handles all job-related problems in maintenance honestly and fairly without violation of Company Policies or Procedures.

Physical requirements

Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur. Must be able to lift 80-100 lbs occasionally. Must be able to operate powered and nonpowered hand tools.

Skill, training, or educational requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer completion of toolmaker / moldmaker apprenticeship program
Experience: Ten years of experience in a tool room environment with 3-5 years supervisory or managerial experience. Must have working knowledge of plastic injection molding industry
Strong commitment to quality, productivity and team performance in the workplace
Excellent teamwork, organization and communication skills
Proficiency in the English language
CNC experience preferred.
Welding experience preferred
Basic computer skills.
