Mold Repair SC Open (J#23911)
Education: High School
Experience: 4 - 9 years

Position: Mold Repair / Mold Maker

Second Shift Position is available for a fast paced Injection Molder
Hours are 40 hours to 60 hours per week dependent upon workload.

Support injection molding facility mold maintenance and repairs according to due dates
Troubleshoot new mold problems during sampling
Trouble shoot and assemble manifold system
Maintain tools so they stay in correct working order
Disassemble complex mold tooling for cleaning and repair. Cleaning includes disassembly of mold, cleaning each piece of tooling and inspecting for wear and damage. Details are reworked or replaced as needed.
Maintenance of high polish mold cavities SPI A2
Spotting of molds new, ec, repairs
Change-over molds which includes changing out details to change product part configuration.
Fits and assemble component parts into mold cavities and verifies dimensions, alignment and clearance.
Analyzes and corrects complex mold malfunctions to assure mold will produce acceptable parts.
Study blueprints, determines machining operations necessary and determines proper sequence of operations considering such factors as type of metal, shape of metal, size of part, finish requirements and machining time.
Ability to condition new molds.
May perform TIG/Laser welding to make repairs to mold tooling, mold frames and other mold parts requiring a fine blend of surface metal that would not distort the finished product.
Fabrication and hand fitting of mold tooling.
Help keep tooling area clean and organized
Use equipment properly and follow the safety features/operating procedures.
Follow applicable safety, quality, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
Actively participate in continual improvement, corrective action and customer satisfaction
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Training Required:
HS diploma or GED
Associates Degree in Toolmaking/Moldmaking or related field is preferred.
Completion of apprenticeship program; or equivalent experience in disciplines is strongly preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience at a Journeyman level for moldmaking/polishing/spotting
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrable mechanical aptitude Understanding of metallurgy.
Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints.
Advanced knowledge of bridgeport, lathe, grinders, sandblasting, benching, spotting
Advaced knowledge of mold polishing techniques SPI A2 preferred
Advanced knowledge of precision measurement devices.
Advanced knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.
