Metrologist MA Open (J#26768)

Plainfield Precision is committed to maintaining and continuously improving our quality systems, and we are seeking a Metrologist to assist us. This job involves measurement, testing, and qualification of new products, as well as supporting manufacturing operations in quality assurance. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is located at our manufacturing facility in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Some key responsibilities will be to:

Perform First Article Inspection and product testing on new and existing products
Document, record and present all inspection and test results
Conduct capability studies, gage R&R studies, statistical studies
Develop and assemble APQP documents (control plans, FMEAs, Process flows, PPAP)
Direct small metrology staff in measurement methodology and work load priorities
Develop methods of automated data collection from existing equipment directly to statistical packages
Assist in design and development of measurement gaging
Ensure maintenance of calibration system and perform calibration of equipment where necessary
Assist in corrective action reports and problem solving
Maintain lab facilities as appropriate for a clean professional and orderly work environment
Maintain Quality Assurance Lab record per internal documentation and control procedures
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree or equivalent experience in a technical position relating to quality assurance or metrology in a manufacturing environment
Solid understanding and working knowledge of statistics and statistical process control
Computer literacy with Microsoft suite and statistical and calibration programs ( QAS and Gagetrol software preferred)
Proficiency with measurement equipment, including but not limited to:
Programmable CMM ( Brown and Sharp / PC Demis preferred)
Vision / Camera inspection equipment
Comparators, height measurement, micrometers, calipers, and basic measurement devices
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and blueprint reading
Working knowledge of ISO9000 (TS 16949 and ISO 13485 is a plus)
Ability to work effectively with peers, clients and vendors in a professional manner.

Preferred secondary qualifications/training/education:

Design of experiments
Disciplined problem solving is important
Experience with Metal stamping and Injection molded plastics - Good molding practices
Continuous Improvement knowledge, such as Lean principles and 6 Sigma
Fluency in English is a requirement;
Strong mathematical skills
