Manufacturing Manager WA 90 - 110k (J#22151)

Vaupell is a leading custom manufacturer of injection-molded plastic components for aerospace and commercial applications, doing business for more than 60 years in Seattle.

SUMMARY
Provide leadership, vision and strategy for division manufacturing operations and maintenance to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality, customer satisfaction, delivery, service and manufacturing capability at competitive costs. Direct and coordinate activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Implements and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system in partnership with Quality Assurance. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure the quality and production of products to meet customer and Vaupell specifications.

Assure compliance to all procedures and policies concerning safety, quality, regulatory and human resources. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

Develop the annual operations and maintenance budget as part of the budgeting process. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Initiates and implement actions to maximize profits by containing expenses through improving operating efficiencies and cost reduction.

Recruit, train, develop, reward, and recognize personnel to achieve targeted strategies and goals. Creates the appropriate organizational structure to reflect and achieve current / planned goals and objectives. Mentors direct staff. Conducts performance reviews, develops growth plans, assign projects to direct staff.

Ensures performance, quality, cost, schedule, profit and customer satisfaction targets are achieved with risks identified and mitigated and opportunities exercised.

Interacts with Division management to assess customer needs and assure accurate project or program technical resources and direction for process and project engineering.

Actively support new product launches, production and engineering improvements.

Assure timely and accurate communication to and from all levels of the organization. Establishes systems to enhance intra and inter department communication.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a manufacturing operation that is designed to meet customer expectations, which could include 7 days / 24 hours. Direct reports could include both Salary Exempt levels as well as Hourly employees. Expected to work a varied schedule that balances the need to manage and provide leadership to a 7 day / 24 hour manufacturing operation and the need to coordinate intra and inter department activities to effectively accomplish the duties of the position.

SCOPE
This position is a key member of the management team and operates with only general direction and minimal supervision from the Division General Manager. This position has full responsibility to make decisions that impact goal achievement. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, the production of quality products, proper equipment / manpower utilization, and effective employee relations. It requires a broad range of management prerogative necessitated by a large number of operating decisions.

The position is accountable for maintaining and complying with regulatory agency requirements including but not limited to OSHA, ISO, AS9100, Boeing 5321, and other agency and customer requirements. Noncompliance or failure to meet the above could result in failure to meet customer needs thus affecting the Divisions business.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Engineering, Business, Operations, or Science and 6 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Expected to write reports, prepare business correspondence, and develop procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Utilize mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
