Manufacturing Engineer CA Open (J#27110)

Job Summary:
Ricoh Electronics, Inc. (REI) is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support the production of plastic injection molded parts for the assembly of next-generation multifunction printers in our California Operations Group. The successful candidate will assist higher level engineers with assignments to install, set up, modify, test and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment in the production of plastic parts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer will
Design manufacturing processes based on drawings
Perform problem analysis on production problems involving molding processes
Perform root cause analysis of failures and problems and implement solutions
Conduct engineering trials and first article inspections
Install and set-up molding equipment
Conduct time studies and summarize data
Coordinate with various departments for the production of parts
Prepare reports and presentations
Create and manage project plans in preparation for production
Create, write or modify engineering and production procedures
Train production personnel on new work procedures and manufacturing processes

Qualified candidates will possess:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required with 2-4 years experience in manufacturing engineering.
Ability to operate injection molding machines to set-up process conditions for new parts.
Ability to interpret a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional image.
Ability to design manufacturing processes based on drawings.
Understanding of the structure of molds.
Experience evaluating the molding process, molds and molded parts and identifying problem points.
Experience coordinating with various departments to prepare for production.
Experience investigating problems and identifying root causes.
Ability and willingness to travel to Asia and Mexico for one week at a time approximately twice a year.
Experience taking measurements using calipers and various types of gauges.
Very good analytical, problem solving, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong math skills.
Intermediate MS Office software skills.
Experience preparing reports.
Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to the production of various products.
Working knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to view and take measurements from drawings preferred.
Project management experience and ability to create project plans using MS Office software preferred.
Experience interfacing with vendors preferred.
Verbal and written Spanish communication skills a plus.
