Maintenance Technician PA 41 - 59k (J#26781)
Education: Associates Degree
Experience: 1 - 3 years

We are currently seeking an Injection Molding/Plastics Craftsperson (up to the Advanced Level) to effectively engage all tasks associated with (routine maintenance, change-overs) or which arise (equipment failure) on all molding and ancillary equipment. Work includes routine inspection and repair or replacement of defective or faulty parts on machines and related equipment. All work is to be performed in such a manner as to ensure good workmanship with a minimum of delay.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet or exceed the following competencies/qualifications:

Entry:
1. Minimum Electromechanical Associates degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school or equivalent experience.
2. Must show aptitude in required skill set.
3. Must demonstrate ability to work in team environment.
4. Must demonstrate safe working practices.
5. Ability to follow written or verbal instruction.
6. Must show ability to perform PM on equipment in department.
7. Repair and replace parts on equipment in assigned area.
8. Be able to use basic hand tools.
9. Document all maintenance performed on equipment related to the assigned areas according to policies.

Basic:
1. Understand Lean Basics and apply principles to manufacturing floor activities.
2. Be able to safely maneuver forklifts and electric jacks in department.
3. Understand Workgroup Basics and apply principles to manufacturing floor activities.
4. Be able to complete PM's on all equipment safely within assigned department.
5. Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and flowcharts.
6. Provide accurate documentation of all work performed, when required.
7. Knowledge of Basic Problem Solving Principles.
8. Show a defined troubleshooting logic when diagnosing equipment problems of mechanical or electrical nature.
9. Be able to use Lotus Notes e-mail software packages.
10. Ensure the continued operation of all equipment related to the assigned areas in a safe and efficient manner according to ISO/GMP policies and OSHA regulations.
11. Understand Basic Plastic Processing and Molding Machine Theory of Operation.
12. Understand Basic Print Reading Concepts.
13. Understand and apply SDWT principles.
14. Must safely operate electric jacks.
15. Understand and apply basic mechanical principles.
16. Must perform other duties as assigned.

Intermediate:
1. Understand hazardous material handling and be able to perform HazMat techniques.
2. Understand and successfully interface and operate in SAP Maintenance environment
3. Be able to layout/assemble/wire equipment systems from electrical schematic packages.
4. Be able to troubleshoot and repair Pneumatic systems on equipment and ancillary devices.
5. Understand how to troubleshoot/repair/program/install Motor Control Systems in Department.
6. Understand how to upload/download software to Motor control drives.
7. Initiate purchase orders for parts and cross reference specs for ordering replacement parts.
8. Be able to apply pneumatic principles to repair, upgrade and control equipment and ancillary devices.
9. Document Machine parameters and follow set-up sheets according to SOP's.
10. Understand part cross referencing and CCR process.
11. Understand SPC principles and apply to equipment tracking in producing quality product.
12. Become familiar with plastic processing and molding machines.
13. Understand Comprehensive Plastic Processing methods and Mold Machine Theory of Operation.
14. Must participate in Department-specific training.
15. Understand and apply SDWT principles.

Comprehensive:
1. Understand grinding procedures, including use of regrind, mix making, handling of regrind, operation of grinder and barrel mixers,
use of safety devices, and use of proper materials for production runs.
2. Be able to control processes on all machinery and ancillary devices in department.
3. Be able to navigate AutoCAD software to retrieve drawings.
4. Understand how to upload/download software to MMI control interface systems.
5. Understand Vision System Principles and Theory of Operation
5. Understand how to interface with Robot Control Systems.
6. Understand Department Specific Plastic Welding Concepts and System Troubleshooting.
7. Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and external resources
8. Understand calibration of equipment in department.
9. Be able to operate shop equipment safely and accurately.
10. Understand basic rigging principles and apply principles to equipment relocation and mold operations.
11. Ability to use Shop Equipment to repair /upgrade/modify parts for equipment.
12. Participate in departmental cross training (if offered).
13. Understand Advanced Plastic Processing methods and Mold Machine Theory of Operation.
14. Must participate in Department-specific training.
15. Understand and apply SDWT principles.

Advanced:
1. Understand how to troubleshoot/repair PLC hardware systems.
2. Be able to fabricate simple machine parts and understand detail and assembly drawings .
3. Understand all measurement techniques.
4. Understand sheet metal gauges and compression fittings
5. Participate in equipment design reviews.
6. Participate in writing of maintenance procedures.
7. Mentor and provide feedback to junior craftspersons/technicians.
8. Be able to Initiate and Manage Change Controls on Equipment
9. Understand document control policies and procedures
10. Show ability to repair equipment in multiple departments.
11. Understand and perform basic mold maintenance.
12. Ensure highest quality output of production from machinery while performing QA checks in department.
13. Assist in machine set up to properly perform IQ/OQ/PQ and all associated documentation.
14. Must participate in Department specific training.
15. Understand metallurgical principles.

Strength: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
