Maintenance Manager NC 48 - 55k (J#27195)

Job Summary

Performs and coordinates, through teammates, activities of workers engaged in daily repair and maintenance of all injection molding machines and supporting equipment. Coordinates improvements and works with Plant Manager and Lead Processor to ensure optimum level of manufacturing. Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with advance manufacturing engineering. Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations. May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge or transfer. Directs training required to maintain a competent workforce.

DIMENSIONS:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the scheduling of maintenance activities, parts and equipment purchasing and supplies, management of downtime for preventive and predictive maintenance and assignment of line calls for emergency repairs.

The Maintenance Manager works with and directs the activities of all hourly maintenance employees and should have a very strong technical background and knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical and hydraulic and plant industrial engineering.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Challenges include maintaining equipment in production, plant facilities, grounds, etc. Training of maintenance personnel, updating of historical maintenance logs, purchasing and maintaining a spare parts inventory, scheduling and coordinating downtime activities and the installation of new equipment. Managing the maintenance budget.

The Maintenance Manager may be required to attend the daily Plant Manager meetings as a key member of the plant management team.

Responsibilities include:

Plans, schedules, and directs the maintenance of equipment and facilities to insure safe and cost efficient operations.

Manage capital and maintenance budgets in such a manner as to achieve the targeted objectives

Prepare requests for capital authorizations to highlight financial advantages of design changes.

Design, improve, and install equipment and systems to improve plant efficiency and meet plant needs.

Provide engineering assistance to the production and maintenance groups in analyzing and solving problems with an emphasis on lean manufacturing i.e. 5S or six sigma principals.
Develops and maintains key, preferred suppliers and spare part inventories
Determines priority of maintenance job backlog and schedules work accomplished.

Assist the production group in maximizing output, improving equipment availability, and reducing scrap.

Supervises day-to-day activities of a team of direct reports

Establish and maintain a positive work environment including personnel policy development, training safety and housekeeping.
