Lean Engineer NY 60 - 80k (J#24998)
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 10 - 20 years

JOB SUMMARY:

Facilitate the effective implementation of major improvement initiatives, more effective operations of existing programs and drive continuous improvement to achieve Currier Plastics strategic objectives. Ultimately create an organization capable of leading continuous improvement on their own.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

70%Lead continuous improvement/lean manufacturing (V2) initiatives across the company that can include, but are not limited to:
Defining and leading kaizen (and continuous improvement) events and their successful follow-up throughout the company, including (ultimately) extension from suppliers to final customers;
Facilitating the maintenance of the current and future value stream maps for the creation of customer, co-worker, supplier and community value;
Collaborating with appropriate departments to lead other major improvement initiatives outlined in the Currier Plastics One Page Plans..
resulting in a culture of self-directed continuous improvement and a high performance team environment.

20%Lead selected corrective action processes by assembling and leading the appropriate cross functional teams to:
Identify the root cause(s) of the issue using sound problem solving tool and six sigma principles;
Attending the Quality Review Committee (QRC), and
Championing activity necessary to put in place short term and irreversible long term corrective action verified to be effective.

5%Obtains grant funding to augment company initiatives in pursuit of strategic objectives.
5%Contribute to the companys Health & Safety (H&S) activities including the Safety team, conducting ergonomic/safety reviews and supporting the development of new practices and policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience leading/applying lean, six sigma and good manufacturing principles.
Certified TWI trainer for all five modules (JI, JR, JM, JS & Problem Solving).
Team leadership combined with technical problem solving capabilities.
Training experience with diverse groups in a variety of settings.
Scientific injection molding practices and methodologies.(desired)

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

High School diploma or equivalent, 10 years experience in plastics or related technical field, working knowledge of SPC; and computer skills (proficiency in word, excel, and Microsoft Outlook is required. .

Four year technical degree in plastics, industrial/systems enginerring or related technical field. Experience in Injection Molding, Blow Molding, and Assembly operations is preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered.
