Title: Tool & Die Repair Technician

*Automotive Experience Required*

Job Summary
Conducts light tooling repairs and completion of regular Preventive Maintenance (PM) on all molds. Ensures all molds are standardized according to Tooling Code.

Essential Functions
Effectively work with little supervision, flexible hours, some OT may be required
Make ejector pins and lifter rods
Maintain hot runner system, valve gate systems
Perform flash repair, minor engineering changes, complete tear down PM
Ability to use a lathe, surface grinder, boring mill, milling machine, welders, etc.
Disassembly and assembly of molds.
Repair, modify and or adjust molds.
Examine molds to determine feasibility of in-house repairs or modifications.
Transport molds to tooling working area.
Diagnosing problems and determining corrective actions.
Polishing, benching, spotting, grinding, drilling, machining, fitting, and welding.
Insure molds are in good and proper mechanical working order.
Perform preventive mold maintenance by following the preventive maintenance check list.
Perform quality work.
Maintain clean work area.
Performing miscellaneous administrative duties incidental to the job.
Performing all assigned tasks to ensure continuity of production and safety of all personnel.

Qualifications & Experience
Basic welding concepts (TIG).
Welding the parting line (TIG).
Spot parting line.
Hot Runner wiring.
Trim Tool knowledge.
Advanced blue-print reading.
Basic CAD concepts.
Hand working grain repair.
Spot lifters, cores, and slides.
Cut threads ID / OD.
Cut internal o-ring grove.
Grind cutting tools.
Cutting nozzle tips.
Cutting tapers.
Use of boring head.
Calculate & set-up and cut bolt pattern.
Set up & run rotary table.
Use of trigonometry sine plate.
Grind compound angles and using a sine plate.

Education / Experience
High School diploma or GED required
3 5yrs prior Tool & Die Repair experience as well as general injection mold maintenance and repair
Prior experience in repairing plastic injection or die cast molding tools.
