Extrusion Mechanic PA 42 - 51k (J#27454)
Education: Associates Degree
Experience: 4 - 9 years

We are currently seeking a Craftsperson - Manufacturing Maintenance - Extrusion (Basic Level) to effectively engage all tasks associated with (routine maintenance, change-overs) or which arise (equipment failure) on all extrusion molding and ancillary equipment.

Entry Level Competencies:
1. Minimum Electro Mechanical Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school or equivalent experience.
2. Must show aptitude in required skill set.
3. Must demonstrate ability to work in team environment.
4. Must demonstrate safe working practices.
5. Ability to follow written or verbal instruction.
6. Must show ability to perform Preventive Maintencance (PM's) on equipment in department.
7. Repair and replace parts on equipment in assigned area.
8. Be able to use basic hand tools.
9. Document all maintenance performed on equipment related to the assigned areas according to policies.
10. Understand basic principles of operation of single screw extruders.
11. Monitor and maintain department-specific water filtration systems.

Basic Level Competencies:
1. Understand Lean Basics and apply principles to manufacturing floor activities.
2. Understand Workgroup Basics and apply principles to manufacturing floor activities.
3. Be able to complete PM's on all equipment safely within assigned department.
4. Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and flowcharts.
5. Provide accurate documentation of all work performed when required.
6. Knowledge of Basic Problem Solving Principles.
7. Show a defined troubleshooting logic when diagnosing equipment problems of mechanical or electrical nature.
8. Be familiar with Statistical Process Control and basic parameter charting.
9. Ensure the continued operation of all equipment related to the assigned areas in a safe and efficient manner according to ISO/GMP policies and OSHA regulations.
10. Understand Basic Plastic Processing and Extruder Machine Theory of Operation.
11 . Understand Basic Print Reading Concepts.
12. Understand and apply Self Directed Work Team (SDWT) principles.
13. Understand and apply basic mechanical principles.
14. Must perform other duties as assigned.
15. Understand various resin processing parameters and how they relate to dimensional and physical properties of extrusions.

To qualify for this position candidates must have the competencies listed above, have extrusion experience, and be able to meet the physical requirements listed below:

Strength
Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Frequently: Kneeling, climbing, keyboard use
Constantly: Standing, walking, stooping, handling, fingering, hearing, near acuity, depth perception, color vision, field of vision

Physical Demands - Environmental Conditions
Noise Intensity: Moderate
Occasionally: Exposure to weather, extreme cold, wet and/or humid, vibration, atmospheric conditions, working in high exposed places, exposure to radiation, working with explosive material, exposure to injury from biohazards, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, other environmental conditions
Frequently: Extreme heat
Constantly: Proximity to moving parts, exposure to electrical shock

Preference will be given to candidates with prior extrusion experience in tubing, profile, or sheet, in that order.
