Engineering Manager AL Open (J#14324)
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 10 - 20 years

SUMMARY Direct activities in product costing, and manufacturing process design. Support assembly operations through Six Sigma design for manufacturability and design for assembly techniques. Design and launch new manufacturing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan manufacturing projects by studying customer requirements and company manufacturing technology needs identifying and analyzing trends in technology; conferring and collaborating with other members of management.

Assists program management with new product introduction by providing the appropriate engineering resources and recommendations for processes, tools, and fixtures. Analyzes feasibility of project by identifying and forecasting costs and requirements.

Completes projects by directing and approving process design and modification activities.

Establishes the appropriate procedures and organizes the document control function to assure compliance with designated certifying agencies.

Completes engineering projects by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

Achieves financial objectives by preparing the engineering budget; scheduling expenditure; analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions.

Maintains engineering data base and engineering operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing project, operational, and personal policies and procedures.

Lead product costing efforts through analysis of customer specifications and volume requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 6-8 employees in the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Engineering Degree (B.A. / B.S.) Masters preferred; plus, 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Auto-CAD, CAD-Key and Pro-E.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
