JOB TITLE:ENGINEER

FSLA STATUS:EXEMPT

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Provide plastic injection molding engineering expertise, support and project management (75%); provide quality assurance expertise and support (25%).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are considered essential functions, and marginal functions that are incidental to performance of the job have been excluded. Employee(s) will be required to perform any other job related duties or instructions requested by those authorized to give instructions or assignments.

Directly provide sales-related engineering assistance:
-review customer part designs and provide suggestions to improve manufacturability
-research and present material, color and manufacturing options
-develop tooling designs and obtain vendor quotes
-identify manufacturing parameters such as cycle times
-develop Cashmere tooling and part quotes

Oversee and/or perform New Product Introduction (NPI) process and production activities, including, but not limited to:
-test production run(s), including those performed by vendors
-capability study
-initial qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and production qualification (PQ)
-first article inspection (FAI)
-quality inspection criterion
-manufacturing process book

Assist in developing and implementing manufacturing/engineering processes
Communicate with customers and vendors
Observe all safety rules
Other duties may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: The following requirements are considered the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, or abilities necessary to perform this job successfully.

Significant hands-on engineering knowledge of plastic injection molding, preferably in a contract manufacturing organization, including part manufacturability and tooling design
Self-starter
Able to analyze problems from various angles; think outside the box
Extensive working knowledge of CAD-based tools
Extensive working knowledge of other engineering tools such as SPC software
Able to prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids
Able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience working in an ISO9001:2008 or similar QMS
Able to communicate effectively with customers, and material and tooling vendors
Able to use statistical (SPC) techniques, and to generate and interpret bar graphs/charts
Able to write reports, business correspondence and work instructions
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers
Extensive working knowledge of Access, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
Plastic product DFM knowledge preferred
CMM experience a plus

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The following requirements are considered the minimum levels of education and experience necessary to perform this job successfully.

Bachelors degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university required
Three to five (3-5) years experience and/or training in the plastic injection molding field required; experience in a contract manufacturing organization preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Proof of US citizenship or proof of US permanent residency is required
