Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

Norplas Industries is a supplier of Plastic Injection Molded Bumpers to the Automotive Industry. Founded in 1998, Norplas is a division of Magna International. Our Northwood Facility has recently undergone a 35,000 square foot addition and added over 300 jobs and we are looking to add a few more skilled individuals to our great team.

Specific Job Duties:

- Manage environmental, health, and safety activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation and direction of safety staff. - Guide the development and implementation of Norplas Health and Safety policies and programs. - Coordinate and provide safety training for all Norplas employees in the areas of Safety, Fire Prevention, and Loss Control. - Develop and administer New Hire Orientation Safety Training. - Investigate and maintain records for all work related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist department management in the development of effective health and safety counter-measures to continuously improve safety objectives. - Oversee the Workers Compensation Program and implement an effective plan for minimizing and reducing worker injuries and associated costs in relationship to measurable data from the State of Ohio BWC. - Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, Fire Codes, and serve as a liaison with local agency representatives. - Serve as co-chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the JHSC. - Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and establish measurable standards from which further recommendations (continuous improvement) can be made, with effective follow-up. - Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills. - Coordinate isocyanate awareness training program and monitor on a continuous basis. - Environmental Responsibilities- ensure all environmental reports are submitted accurately and on time pertaining to areas such as: - Land: Oversee spills management program, outside storage of materials, and landfill disposal management - Air: Oversee RTO operation/compliance to permit, perform VOC calculations for submission to state regulatory agencies, and permit application for changes to production requirements for all emission units. Maintain up to date records for all existing exhaust stacks and apply for permits for modifications to existing stacks or installation of new equipment. - Water: Ensure all process water discharges to sanitary sewers is in compliance with regulations. - Hazardous Waste: Coordinate and manage hazardous waste program. - Coordinate recycling efforts of all recyclable scrap at Norplas. - Assist in directing the services of contracted Security Management personnel, on-site cleaning contractors, and landscaping/snow removal. - Communicate, lead and direct the activities of the Assistant Safety Coordinator to ensure all objectives are met. - Serve as the ISO 14000 Management Representative.
